The deal
Each player gets five cards. One card is turned face up to start the heap. The rest form the stock.
Your turn
- If a card in your hand has the same rank as the top of the heap, play it on the heap, then play a second card from your hand. That second card becomes the new top.
- If you have no match, draw from the stock. The drawn card goes on top of the heap. If it matches a card in your hand, you must play the match.
- When the stock runs out, the heap is shuffled to make a new stock. If no card can be drawn, the hand is a draw.
Winning
- The first player with no cards left wins the hand.
- If you hold a pair (two cards of the same rank) at the start of your turn, you win straight away.
3-A Card
3-A Card plays like Pitty Pat with three cards each instead of five.
- Before the hand, players vote on the direction of play. The majority decides. A tie goes clockwise.
- When a player draws a card that doesn't match their hand, it is offered to each player around the table in turn. A player who can match it can claim it.
